What DELE is
The Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera are official Spanish-language qualifications issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, covering all six CEFR levels from A1 to C2, and valid for life once earned.
Exam format
How the exam is structured
Every level tests Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking, sat as separate papers with pass/fail thresholds for each group of skills. The oral exam is conducted with a certified examiner and follows a structured format that changes at each level, from simple everyday exchanges to defending an argued position.
